Earlier this month, Kansas City Chiefs star Xavier Worthy was arrested on claims from his then-fiancée, Tia Jones, that she had been the victim of repeated domestic violence.
But as more information has come out about the situation, Worthy is now claiming that he is actually the victim in this situation after prosecutors declined to move forward with charges against Worthy.
On Monday, Worthy filed a lawsuit against Tia Jones in a Texas court stemming from these false claims from Jones, first reported by TMZ.
In Worthy’s lawsuit, he claims that he is actually the victim of abuse after Worthy asked Jones to move out of his house after finding evidence that she had cheated on him, which led to her getting “violent and extortive” toward him.
Worthy provided further evidence via several photos that Jones had actually broken a gaming setup of Worthy’s on top of scratching his faceripping and ripping chunks of hair out of his head. The photos can be found in TMZ’s report on the matter.
Additionally, Worthy is claiming that while he was in police custody from his arrest earlier this month, Jones had stolen or destroyed over $150,000 worth of his personal property and cash from the residence — including a handgun, bracelets, and more.
In total, Worthy is seeking over $250,000 in damages from Jones in the lawsuit, which includes the cost of the allegedly stolen items on top of the allegations against him “damaging his credibility, veracity, and reputation”.
Only time will tell whether courts side with Worthy in regard to this lawsuit. But he certainly does have a point in that if Jones’ claims are indeed knowingly false, she should have to face some consequences for this, as it did briefly affect Worthy’s perception in the public eye.
