Pittsburgh Steelers meet with this high-pedigree quarterback before his pro day

The Pittsburgh Steelers are meeting with Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers before his pro day on Tuesday, according to John Hendrix of Athlon Sports. Ewers had dinner with the New Orleans Saints ahead of the pro day, but he also met with the Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, and intends to meet with the Miami Dolphins after his pro day.

This is the second quarterback the Steelers have shown significant interest in on the pro day trail. Jalen Milroe had a dinner with the Steelers last week when the top brass went to Alabama. Tyler Shough came to Pittsburgh for a pre-draft visit as well.

Ewers, who was a talented recruit that first landed with Ohio State and transferred to Texas, has plenty of playing experience. Yet, with natural tools that screamed upside, many thought that would come. It never did, and now Ewers is projected as a mid-round pick instead.

Ewers posted a career-high 31 touchdowns but also threw for 12 interceptions while racking up 3472 passing yards in the 2024 season as he helped lead Texas on a College Football Playoff run.

In his career, Ewers threw for over 9000 yards, 68 touchdowns, and just 24 interceptions. That track record is a sterling coin in Ewers’s hat, and he has been able to take care of the ball and lead his team to tough wins.
