What Chelsea's squad actually think about Jadon Sancho and what he's done for some of the young players - journalist

There has been a lot of talk around the future of Chelsea’s Jadon Sancho during March’s international break.

Jadon Sancho hasn’t been picked in an England squad since October 2021, so he’s back at Chelsea training with other teammates not selected by their respective nations.

It’s not a great surprise that Thomas Tuchel didn’t name the 25-year-old winger in his first-ever England squad because he’s been inconsistent so far this season in Chelsea colours.

Jadon Sancho for Chelsea in the 2024/25 season

Sancho moved to Stamford Bridge on a season-long loan deal from Manchester United, which includes an obligation to buy this summer. However, Chelsea can opt out of buying Sancho if they pay a £5m penalty fee.

Elsewhere, it’s been claimed that Chelsea could purchase Sancho then immediately sell him in the summer for a profit.

Jadon Sancho popular within Chelsea’s squad, he’s even helping younger teammates

Journalist Nizaar Kinsella has reported via X that Chelsea winger Sancho is ‘very popular’ in the Blues squad.

Apparently, the Englishman does plenty of work away from the training pitch. In addition, he’s a senior figure who’s helped to mentor Chelsea youngsters such as Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong.

Sancho is frustrated by his own form after giving an honest interview, but it sounds like he’s still doing all the right things behind the scenes.

If the attacker can finish this campaign in good form to help the team achieve their goals, we wouldn’t be against the idea of keeping him. He’s simply got to start contributing more in games, though.

Leadership issue at Chelsea

It’s great to hear that Sancho is taking some youngsters under his wing.

Even though his own form is up and down right now, his experience of playing for the likes of England, Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund will be great to rub off on his younger teammates.

The reality is that Chelsea’s young group is crying out fore more leaders and experience.

Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella recently discussed leadership by claiming that he’s often encouraged to be more vocal within the dressing room.

Blues head coach Enzo Maresca thinks club captain Reece James has grown as a leader throughout the season, but we’d still like to see more individuals stand up in that regard.
