Zurab Amirian has left his role as Rangers head of academy just over a year into his post at Ibrox.

The Belgian’s departure also comes only a month after chief executive Patrick Stewart revealed the club’s external review gave “a lot of insights into things that are going well and not well" at Auchenhowie.

Amirian was hired under former academy director Zeb Jacobs, who has since departed for Feyenoord. The former head of technical Development at OH Leuven took to LinkedIn to post his farewell.

He said: “The end of an incredible journey as head of academy football at Rangers, a true rollercoaster of growth, challenges, and unforgettable moments.

“From day one, I was surrounded by great people in a beautiful club, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the academy.

“This experience has developed me both professionally and personally, pushing me to learn, adapt, and evolve. As one chapter closes, new opportunities arise, and I’m excited for what’s next.

The American tycoon visited the Auchenhowie facility as part of a VIP tour with his takeover team a fortnight ago, the day after watching Barry Ferguson’s side clinch a place in the quarter finals of the Europa League with a shoot-out win over Fenerbahce.

Stewart spoke of some of the findings of the club’s external review recently, saying: “We have got a lot of insights into things that are going well and not well at Auchenhowie.
