There are nine games remaining in the 2024/25 Premier League season and Arsenal will be hoping Liverpool have a bit of a wobble along the way. Mikel Arteta's side currently trail the league leaders by a total of 12 points and it does appear that the Premier League title is heading to Anfield for only the second time.
The sides do meet on Merseyside in early May but there is a very good chance the title will be done and dusted by then considering the current gap between the two. Arsenal are in the driving seat to finish second as things stand, with Nottingham Forest four points adrift in third.
The Gunners then have a nine-point cushion between themselves and Chelsea in fourth. So, it's looking likely that the north London club will be in the top three come the end of the season providing they don't endure a dip in form.
As ever, Premier League clubs will receive a merit payment for their position in the final table. The final figure has fluctuated in previous seasons but it is usually around the £3.1million mark, which comprises of £1.7million for their UK merit payment and just over £1.4million for the international merit payment.
So, the Premier League's bottom club, which is currently Southampton, will earn a financial reward of £3.1million for coming 20th. Each position after that increases by £3.1million, with Liverpool expected to secure £62.3million if they win the Premier League title.
For finishing second in the last campaign, Arsenal will have brought in a total of £59.1million. The Gunners are on course to secure that windfall again, with £62.3million the ultimate prize if they manage to overhaul Liverpool in the run-in.
A third-place finish would earn them £56million and £52.9million would be the prize if they dropped to fourth. There is of course the possibility that the merit payment coming Arsenal's way could be put towards summer transfers, with a new striker a must for Arteta, as the Gunners look to go up another level and get their hands on the top prizes.
Arsenal have already secured a huge sum of £55.822million in Champions League prize money this season following their exploits in the competition. Real Madrid are next up for the Gunners in the quarter-finals and they could boost the aforementioned figure by a huge amount if they go on and win the competition in Munich in May.
Arsenal would pocket an extra £33.47million for doing so, which would equal £89.292million in total when added to the £55.822million won so far. It could be a very lucrative season indeed for Arsenal if they triumph in Europe and finish in a really strong position in the Premier League table.
