It could be a very important summer transfer window for Liverpool coming up

The summer plans hinge on resolving the futures of Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contracts expire in June 2025.

While Van Dijk is expected to extend his stay, Salah’s situation remains unresolved, with Saudi Pro League clubs monitoring developments.

Alexander-Arnold’s potential free transfer to Real Madrid – a 50/50 proposition – would leave a creative void at right-back.

Further upheaval is anticipated in the forward ranks, where Darwin Nunez and Luis Díaz face uncertain futures.

Nunez, despite flashes of brilliance, has scored just seven goals in 40 appearances this season, fueling reports that Slot views him as expendable. Díaz, meanwhile, has attracted serious interest from Barcelona, with sporting director Deco personally scouting the Colombian during international duty.

Both could fetch combined fees exceeding £100 million, freeing funds for marquee signings

But even on the loan front, there could be some permanent transfers this summer.

Luca Stephenson, who joined Liverpool’s academy in 2018 at age 15 after beginning his youth career at Sunderland, has been enjoying a productive spell with Dundee United this campaign.

He has played a key role in their push for a top-three finish, with 2000+ minutes of senior football this season.

With his Liverpool contract set to expire in 2027, Stephenson’s future remains open – and it seems Dundee is keen to make him around permanently.

“I couldn’t be any happier with how those (loan) signings have done for u,” Dundee manager Jim Goodwin said as quoted by the Courier.

“Luca is one that – if he were to become available in the summer and not extend his contract at Liverpool – then we would love to be at the table talking to him.”

Since joining in August 2024, he has started 27 league matches (30 total appearances), scoring three goals and providing two assists.

Deployed in midfield and occasionally at wing-back, his standout performances include a goal in a 2–0 win over St Johnstone and a match-winning assist against Hibernian.

Manager Jim Goodwin lauded his “fabulous pedigree” and versatility, noting his ability to “excel in multiple roles.
