Liverpool away trip to Chelsea officially rescheduled

Liverpool currently need just 16 more points from their remaining nine fixtures to mathematically secure the Premier League title

The Reds face a challenging run of fixtures in the final stretch of the season, with games against Everton, Arsenal, and Brighton among their remaining matches.

However, it has now been officially confirmed by the club that Liverpool’s potentially decisive fixture against Chelsea will take place on Sunday, May 4 at 16:30 BST at Stamford Bridge, as the Reds close in on what could be their 20th league title.

It is a revised date from the originally scheduled kick-off of May 3, 16:00 BST.

If both Liverpool and Arsenal continue to match results after the international break, the Reds could be crowned champions at Stamford Bridge on that first weekend of May.

For Chelsea, currently sitting fourth in the table with 49 points13, this fixture represents a crucial opportunity in their push for Champions League qualification.

After an inconsistent season under manager Enzo Maresca, the Blues are in a tight battle for the European spots with Manchester City, Newcastle United, and Brighton all within two points of them.

The Londoners have shown flashes of quality but struggled with consistency, particularly in 2025, with a recent 1-0 defeat to Arsenal highlighting their difficulties against top opposition

Liverpool beat the Blues 2-1 when the two sides met at Anfield earlier in the season.

Despite Chelsea not looking as strong since then, Arne Slot admitted back in October that the win was perhaps flattering for his side:

“Every single game we have more chances and we deserve to win except for one game – Chelsea at home, a draw would have been more fair but every game we were dominant. A certain style and it’s up to anyone to describe it. Professional.”

So we can expect a tough battle when the Reds travel to Stamford Bridge next month.
