Newcastle United are reportedly looking to add another Brazilian to their squad this summer.
Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes have been playing alongside the latest Toon target while on international duties with the five-time World Cup winners and may well have a say in convincing their countryman to switch to black-and-white.
It’s not the first time the ‘Agent Bruno’ narrative has cropped up, but it’s perhaps for the best that we didn’t push on to sign Lucas Paqueta in hindsight.
Versatile Wolves forward Matheus Cunha is on the shortlist of Newcastle United and several other English and European clubs, according to [TEAMtalk;](https://www.teamtalk.com/newcastle-united/matheus-cunha-newcastle-united-join-race-wolves) who report that Bruno and Joelinton could play a key role in convincing him to sign.
A high energy attacker who can play as a left-winger, striker and a No. 10, Cunha would perfectly fit the profile of a player Eddie Howe tends to target. There are some concerns about the Brazilian’s discipline, however.
Cunha violently clashed with Milos Kerkez minutes before Wolves were set to go to penalties in the FA Cup fifth round, leading to a four-game ban from the FA. The 25-year-old was also suspended in December for two games after a scuffle with a member of Ipswich Town’s coaching staff.
Bruno recently posted a picture of him and Cunho on Instagram, leading to inevitable ‘Agent Bruno’ comments and he, alongside 00J7, may well be key to selling their love of the club, fans and Howe to Cunha during the international break.
Nottingham Forest and Liverpool are believed to be amongst the other sides interested in securing the attacker, who has been a standout in a poor season for Wolves.
TEAMtalk also state that there is a “firm belief” that Newcastle will retain the services of Bruno this summer and that the captain will help his side push into the Champions League.
Mass concern surrounded his future last season as the Toon found themselves in a complete and utter PSR mess. With the board wanting to build around Alexander Isak, it left Bruno vulnerable.
A £100m release clause in his contract saw talk of Manchester City and Real Madrid bids surround the 27-year-old, but it was Elliot Anderson and Yankuba Minteh who were sold instead to help us avoid a PSR breach.
That clause in Bruno’s contract has now expired and his standing within the club has only strengthened since adorning the armband, with his post-match reaction to our Carabao Cup win telling us all we need to know about his love for the club and commitment to the cause.
