Liverpool are keen to beat Arsenal in the race to sign Spanish winger. They are ready to trigger the release clause in order to secure the services of youngster.
Liverpool will enter the summer window in order to sign a winger. Mohamed Salah will be out of contract in summer and he still has not signed a new contract. This will need an urgent replacement. In addition, Luis Diaz can also be sold as he will enter the final year of his contract.
On the other hand, Arsenal are also keen to sign a winger this summer. Mikel Arteta wants an upgrade on Gabriel Martinelli. In addition, he wants the winger to serve as backup for Bukayo Saka when needed. They already have one player on radar that fits in this criteria.
The star in question here is Nico Williams of Athletic Club. The 22 year old first appeared on North London club’s radar in summer 2024. Gunners were impressed with his performances for Spain in Euro 2024 and made an effort to sign him.
But, the deal ended in failure and Williams had to stay at Athletic Club. The 22 year old has continued to impress and Gunners are willing to go again this summer. But, they are now joined by their Premier League rivals in the race.
Liverpool keen to land Nico Williams this summer
According to Todo Fichajes, The Reds are willing to go all out for Williams. They are also willing to trigger the €60 million release clause in order to have upper hand in the race over other clubs. However, Arsenal will not give up the fight easily and hence the player’s choice will become a key factor.
🚨 Liverpool are determined to beat Arsenal, Aston Villa, PSG and Manchester United to the signing of Nico Williams and are willing to trigger his €60m release clause.

Williams can be a great addition to both Arsenal or Liverpool. He will prefer to join a club where he is guaranteed regular starting position. As of now, he has more chance of playing regularly at Arsenal than at Liverpool.
