Bournemouth make Kepa Arrizabalaga transfer decision with Chelsea career over

Bournemouth have decided to make Kepa Arrizabalaga their number one target ahead of the summer transfer window according to reports.

Kepa spent last season on loan at Real Madrid where he won the Champions League and La Liga, but the Spanish giants opted against making a permanent move.

The 30-year-old instead signed a one year contract extension at Stamford Bridge and was sent on loan to Bournemouth for the season, where he’s impressed.

There’s believed to be a £5m buy option in the loan deal, whilst other Premier League clubs are also said to be interested in the Spaniard.

The Spain international has started 22 of Bournemouth’s 29 Premier League games this season and has established himself as a key part of the team, with qualification for European football a real possibility.

Football Insider have now reported the Cherries have decided to make Kepa their number one transfer target this summer.

The report adds that any deal will be dependant on whether Kepa is prepared to take a wage cut and if the Blues will agree to a fee.

Kepa is expected to be one of several players leaving Stamford Bridge, with it reported as many as seven or eight players could be sold to fund moves in the market.

The goalkeeping situation at Chelsea is a bit of a mess currently with Robert Sanchez back as number one, whilst it’s still unclear how good Filip Jorgensen actually is.

The Blues also have highly rated teenager Mike Penders arriving, but it’s more than likely he will go on loan to gain more first team experience in a higher quality league.
