England look set to play at Villa Park in September
Villa Park is set to be the venue for England's next home World Cup qualifier, as Thomas Tuchel's team will be playing their next two matches away from their usual stomping ground, the PA news agency understands.
The new era under Sir Gareth Southgate's successor kicked off with a bang as England secured a 2-0 win over Albania and a 3-0 victory against Latvia in their opening qualification games at Wembley.
However, the Three Lions won't grace the pitch at the national stadium again until they face Wales in a friendly on October 9.
Tuchel's squad are scheduled to play Senegal in a friendly at Nottingham Forest's City Ground on June 10, and the FA has already announced plans to take the Andorra match on September 6 "away from Wembley".
With Coldplay set to play Wembley with 10 gigs between August 22 and September 8, it's understood that Villa Park is being prepped to host the Group K qualifier.
Aston Villa's historic ground last saw the England senior men's team in action during a 2005 friendly against The Netherlands.
Plans were in place for Villa Park to host England's final European Championship warm-up game in June 2020 against Romania, but the match was cancelled due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Wembley is slated to host just two more men's internationals this year after the Wales friendly: a November qualifier against Serbia.
PA sources also suggest that Tuchel's first away fixture as England manager against Andorra on June 7 might also be moved from the small nation.
England's last match at the Estadi Nacional was in October 2021, and with a new stadium unlikely to be ready in time, there are whispers that June's qualifier could be shifted to Espanyol's ground in Barcelona.
The Andorran Football Federation and UEFA have been approached for confirmation regarding the venue of the Group K qualifier.
