Leeds United are claimed to be considering a surprising move for West Ham midfielder Tomas Soucek this summer, but would face competition from David Moyes’ Everton in that event.
Leeds have bigger fish to fry than actively pursuing any summer transfers at this stage, given that they still have eight games left in the Championship to secure promotion in.
Should Leeds head to the Premier League, they’re going to face an incredibly tall order in staying up, therefore requiring plenty of investment.

A report from Claret and Hugh – a site said to have links with West Ham majority owner David Sullivan – this week has interestingly claimed that Leeds are set to battle out with Everton over the signature of Irons midfielder Tomas Soucek.
The Czech Republic midfielder will have two more years on his Irons contract when the summer window rolls around, and it’s said that Leeds are eager to add the 30-year-old to their squad if promoted:
“However, a surprise contender has emerged in the form of Leeds United,” the report reads. “Who reportedly view Soucek as a guaranteed source of goals – and potentially the difference between Premier League survival and relegation.”

Any club signing him would be able to offer him a significant pay rise from his current West Ham deal, with David Moyes eager to reunite with the towering midfielder at Bramley Moore Dock, having signed him at West Ham previously.
In 186 Premier League appearances, Soucek has a reasonably impressive return from midfield with 34 goals and eight assists, scoring seven this season while assisting one.
Soucek would add goals and physicality to Leeds, but not much else
Goals, height and Premier League experience are the reasons why you could justify signing Soucek this summer, but any other parts of his game are sorely lacking.
He’s proven to be quite limited in terms of his work in possession, and Leeds are going to need more than what he can bring if they want to stay in the Premier League next season – should they get there in the first place.
You can see why Moyes would want him at Everton, given his best form has come under the current Toffees boss, but for Leeds, it makes very little sense.
Would he start over Ethan Ampadu and Ao Tanaka? Probably not. Would he represent much of an improvement for our squad, given the fee and wages we’d have to pay? Definitely not.
