Throwback to Noel Gallagher using West Ham fans to shut up Alexander-Arnold in 2024

Trent Alexander-Arnold seems to be all set to join Real Madrid from Liverpool in the summer.

Liverpool fans are fuming with the news that Trent Alexander-Arnold could be ready to move to Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer.

And with that in mind, both the West Ham and Manchester City fans will have wry smiles on their faces right now.

That’s because Noel Gallagher used the West Ham fans as a reference point when criticising Trent Alexander-Arnold this time last year.

The Hammers fans have a history of beef with the 26-year-old Liverpool star.

That started when it was ludicrously claimed that Trent Alexander-Arnold could take then West Ham star Declan Rice’s place in the England team.

Trent Alexander Arnold set for blockbuster Real Madrid move

Madrid have made a salary offer to the Liverpool and England international star, according to Fabrizio Romano.

It is claimed that the contract isn’t a ‘superstar salary’ offer, which is somewhat surprising.

However, Alexander-Arnold is very much expected to be playing his football at the Santiago Bernabeu next season.

The Liverpool fans are angry with the right-back for running down his contract, meaning that the club won’t receive a transfer fee for him when he leaves.

That may be a little bit harsh, but it’s worth remembering just how much football means to the fans.

And it is very clear that Alexander-Arnold does not appreciate that fact.

Noel Gallagher used West Ham to make Trent Alexander-Arnold look silly

Back in March 2024, Alexander-Arnold hit the headlines for very much the wrong reasons.

The 26-year-old suggested that Liverpool’s trophy wins mean more to their fans than they do to the Manchester City fans, due to the incredible wealth of the Cityzens (Manchester Evening News).

However, Noel Gallagher fired back with an incredible retort, as quoted by MEN:

“For someone to say that a trophy means more to one set of fans, than another set of fans, is the talk of a simpleton.

“I tell you this, West Ham winning (the Europa Conference League) will have meant as much as that Champions League to us.

“For him to come out with that, even by footballer’s standards he’s a bit dim, isn’t he? I don’t think he was being clever and all those things saying he’s playing mind games – really? What is he, one of the X-Men or something?”

How magnificent was that from Gallagher, and he was absolutely spot on as well.

Trent Alexander-Arnold may well be set to leave Liverpool to link up with Real Madrid.

But it seems like he won’t leave much of a legacy back at Anfield unfortunately, let alone across the rest of England.
