Report: Everton locked in battle with Juventus to sign £12m midfielder as contact is made

Everton are going to need a busy summer with the number of players who are set to depart the club at the end of the campaign.

David Moyes has worked wonders with the squad he inherited from Sean Dyche in all but securing Premier League survival.

However, the 61-year-old is set for a busy summer at Everton, with a number of those players expected to leave the club as their contracts come to an end.

Abdoulaye Doucoure has now admitted he will leave Everton as the midfielder spoke about his future in a recent interview.

Everton are not only needing to add quality in the summer, but they are also going to need to add to their squad depth.

The Friedkins were keen to sign a midfielder in January, and it seems the same target is being set for the summer window.

Everton keen to sign Antwerp midfielder Mahamadou Doumbia

Orel Mangala is also set to leave Everton in the summer as he returns back to his parent club Lyon following his major injury.

With this in mind, the Blyes are going to need to bolster their midfield considering there are some major players set to depart.

According to Africa Foot, Everton are one of the clubs showing an interest in the Antwerp midfielder Mahamadou Doumbia ahead of the window.

However, it is Juventus who have now made contact with the Belgian side over the Mali midfielder.

The Italian outfit is working on an initial offer in the region of €10m (£8m), but they are set to be told to try again, with Antwerp holding out for around €15m (£12m).

There is already set to be one summer signing to go through as Everton will purchase Carlos Alcaraz permanently.

But if they are to land Doumbia, they are going to have to beat some serious competition with Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion also credited with an interest.

Who is Mahamadou Doumbia?

The 20-year-old midfielder is currently playing his football in Belgium with Antwerp having previously played out on loan in Norway.

Doumbia has been hailed as ‘exceptional’ by Africa Foot as interest in his signature grows across Europe.

The Mali midfielder has been heavily involved in the Belgian top flight this season despite his young age.

Everton are expected to keep Idrissa Gana Gueye with a new contract to be offered, but adding potential long-term replacements could prove a smart move by the Toffees.
