Aston Villa chiefs now considering hijacking deal AC Milan think they're close to completing

Aston Villa are now considering joining AC Milan in the race to sign a star the Italians have already bid £33 million for, according to a recent report.

Rogers makes England start as Villa continue to stack attacking talents

On Monday evening, Morgan Rogers was one of three Aston Villa players to be given the nod to start England’s game against Latvia by Thomas Tuchel. Defender Ezri Konsa and forward Marcus Rashford were also handed starts by the German, but it was a significant night for Rogers, as it was his second cap for England but, more importantly, his first international start.

The 22-year-old played the full game after coming off the bench in Friday’s win over Albania, and after the match, Rogers said it was a “dream come true” to start for his country and one he will remember.

"It's a dream come true - a moment to remember, for sure," Rogers told BBC Radio 5 Live. "We knew it would be difficult and that they would defend well in a low block. Our quality showed. I'm delighted.

"That's what you want to do when you play football. You don't want to sit on the bench. Thankfully, I got my chance, and hopefully I can get many more in the future.

"I'm a bit disappointed I didn't score. I'm not always going to get it right, but if I do the right things, then good things will come from that."

Aston Villa considering hijacking AC Milan deal to sign Chelsea star

As Rogers continues to shine for club and country, the Villans could be set to sign a player who they will hope can excel alongside their ever-growing array of attacking talent. According to TBR Football, Aston Villa are weighing up a move to sign Noni Madueke, who is also wanted by AC Milan.

The report states that Villa appreciate Madueke but face competition from teams such as Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle United and, most significantly, Milan. That is because the Italian giants have reportedly made a £33 million bid to sign the Englishman, as they have identified Madueke as one of their top targets for this summer, and they believe that fee is enough to get a deal done.

Milan see Madueke as the perfect replacement for Rafael Leao, but TBR state that Villa may look to let Leon Bailey leave this summer, and they see the Chelsea winger as someone who can replace the Jamaican. Meanwhile, they have yet to decide on what to do with Marco Asensio and Rashford, who are on loan from Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, respectively.

The 23-year-old has been at Stamford Bridge since January 2023, but since his arrival from the Netherlands, he has struggled to nail down a regular starting spot at Chelsea. This season, Madueke has played 23 league games, 19 of which he started.

Despite not being a regular starter, the winger has still shined in front of goal, scoring seven times in the league.
