ACC.25: Smidt Heart Institute Experts Present Late-Breaking Research

LOS ANGELES (March 25, 2025) -- Physicians and investigators from the Smidt Heart Institute at Cedars-Sinai will present research and be honored for their ongoing work in cardiovascular research and care during the American College of Cardiology’s Annual Scientific Session taking place March 29-31 in Chicago.

Late-Breaking Clinical Trial Results

C. Noel Bairey Merz, MD, director of the Barbra Streisand Women’s Heart Center, and Janet Wei, MD, the Erika J. Glazer Chair in Women’s Cardiovascular Research, Education and Innovation, are researchers on the Women's Ischemia Trial To Reduce Events In Nonobstructive Coronary Artery Disease (WARRIOR). Primary and secondary outcomes are being presented on Saturday, March 29, at 9:30 a.m. CDT.

Raj Makkar, MD, vice president of Cardiovascular Innovation and Intervention at Cedars-Sinai and the inaugural director of the Karsh Division of Interventional Cardiology, presents clinical trial results on Sunday, March 30, at 10:15 a.m. CDT. The results will include clinical and echocardiographic outcomes from the first 500 patients treated with a dedicated transcatheter aortic valve for pure aortic regurgitation in the Align-AR clinical trial.

Aakriti Gupta, MD, assistant professor of Cardiology, will be a discussant for the presentation “5-Year Outcomes After Transcatheter or Surgical Aortic Valve Replacement in Low-Risk Patients With Aortic Stenosis,” on Monday, March 31, at 3 p.m. CDT.
