Nottingham Forest will go in search of a host of players in the summer, especially if Champions League football is on the agenda.
Evangelos Marinakis wanted a new striker in January and a marquee addition in that area of the pitch looks likely.
Viktor Gyokeres has already been linked with Forest – although that rumour does feel very much like pie in the sky at this stage.
Another player courted by Forest is Ademola Lookman and that player does feel much easier to obtain for a club like the Reds.
Before any new players come to the club, others might have to leave and given the nature of this season, the best players will be in the sights of other clubs.

Manchester City still watching Forest star Ola Aina
It’s been claimed previously that Forest value Aina at £8 million and that is largely due to the uncertainty over his contract.
It’s claimed that it will expire this summer, although it’s anticipated that Forest have a clause that can trigger another one-year extension.
According to Give Me Sport, City are watching the situation with intrigue, with Pep Guardiola considering making a move for Aina.
MORE FOREST STORIES
The Reds performer signed for the club from Torino in a free transfer in the summer of 2023 and has showcased superb form on Trentside.
He spent last season out of position at left-back but has been brilliant on the right-hand side of a very rigid defence during 2024/25.
Now, it’s come to light that City are keen on Aina with his contract situation not entirely clear at the moment.
Ola Aina stats 2024/25
The 27-year-old is in the form of his life and ultimately, he appears to have a very positive influence on the rest of the dressing room.
Forest can’t become the sort of club that lets their best players walk away for peanuts – or in this case, potentially nothing.

Appearances 29
Tackles 53
Interceptions 30
Clearances 87
Blocks 39
Something needs to be finalised with regards to his contract situation, and with the club on the cusp of the Champions League, it’s important he’s kept around.
Aina will have a number of suitors circling for his signature in the summer, but hopefully, Forest can persuade him that his future is at the City Ground.
