To the surprise of many, the San Antonio Spurs have won three consecutive games. Tonight, the Spurs will try to make it four straight when they travel to take on the Detroit Pistons.

San Antonio, who sports a record of 31-39, began their winning streak with an upset victory over the New York Knicks. Since then, the Spurs took care of business against a pair of lowly teams: the Philadelphia 76ers and the Toronto Raptors. In the Raptors game, Devin Vassell led the way with 25 extremely efficient points.

Due to their recent wins, the Spurs now find themselves only three games back of the 10th spot in the Western Conference. If San Antonio can climb to that spot, they’d be in the play-in tournament with a spot in the 2025 NBA Playoffs on the line.

The Pistons have struggled in recent years but they’ve turned it around this season. With a record of 40-32, Detroit has the sixth best record in the Eastern Conference. At this point, it looks all but guaranteed that the Pistons will make the playoffs.

Earlier this season, the Pistons defeated the Spurs 125-110. In that game, Cade Cunningham dominated the action with 25 points and 12 assists, while hitting 10-of-15 shots from the floor.

San Antonio Spurs Injury Update

While Victor Wembanyama and De’Aaron Fox are out for the season and Charles Bassey will miss another game with a knee injury, the big news on the injury report is the inclusion of Stephon Castle. The leading candidate in the race for the 2024-25 NBA Rookie of the Year award is questionable against the Pistons due to a hyperextended knee. Castle suffered the injury against the Raptors but was able to stay in that game for a few more minutes.

If Castle does miss the game, interim head coach Mitch Johnson may go with Chris Paul at point guard, Devin Vassell at shooting guard, Harrison Barnes at small forward, Jeremy Sochan at power forward and Bismack Biyombo at center.

Other options to start if Castle doesn’t play include Blake Wesley, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Julian Champagnie.

Detroit Pistons Injury Update

The Pistons are also dealing with some injuries. Superstar Cade Cunningham is questionable with a calf injury. Tim Hardaway Jr. is also questionable. He’s dealing with an ankle injury.

Betting Guide: Spurs at Pistons

The Pistons are favored by 10.5 points and the over/under is 233.5 points. The smart money is on the under. With Cunningham and Castle both questionable, that could mean a lot of talent sitting on the sidelines. If both don’t play, points could be relatively hard to come by tonight.
