Matt Rhule clarifies Dylan Raiola comment: 'He’s done a really nice job with his body'

LINCOLN — Still two years away from being eligible for the NFL Draft, Dylan Raiola was at Nebraska’s pro day, throwing to the receivers running routes in front of scouts in attendance.

He couldn’t stay long though. He had to get to class.

Raiola has gotten in better shape in the offseason, Husker coach Matt Rhule said.

Earlier in March, Rhule said the quarterback “won’t be a great quarterback at 240 pounds.”

Tuesday, Rhule clarified that he wasn’t referring to Raiola’s actual weight. He was just using the 240 figure as an example.

“He’s done a really nice job with his body and he’s continuing to do that,” Rhule said. “He’s a big man. He’s gonna be a big man … He’s been really, really focused this offseason on, ‘Hey, I’m gonna get myself to the right weight, get myself down to where I want to be, and I think you can already see it. I always feel bad — there’s enough ire out there — when I bring that to somebody with something I said, but I think I was pretty specific in that he just knows what he doesn’t want to be.”
