Tyrese Haliburton Is Putting Up Numbers Even John Stockton and Magic Johnson Couldn’t Manage

The Indiana Pacers are riding a five-game win steak, have risen up to the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, and look the part of one of the more dangerous teams in the NBA, although they're doing it without a top-ten superstar.

Andrew Nembhard, Pascal Siakam, Myles Turner, Aaron Nesmith, and Bennedict Mathurin, as well as the rest of the roster, have done an excellent job of slotting into their role, and Tyrese Haliburton is conducting the offense at a level never seen before.

He's stepped up his defense, increased his scoring, taken excellent care of the ball, and is putting up numbers that even the best to ever do it couldn't dream of.

Over his last 11 games, the Pacers are 8-3 and he is averaging 21.5 points, 12.1 assists, 2.5 steals, and only 1.1 turnovers. He is also shooting 47.4 percent from 3-point range for good measure.

He is the only player in league history to record 11 games in a row with a double-double, a steal, and less than two turnovers.

Only Nikola Jokic, Chris Paul, and John Stockton have done it for even five games, and Haliburton had a five-game stretch of his own last season. He joined 12 other players in NBA history with 10 double-doubles in a row, although he has a long way to go before matching Stockton's record of 37 straight ten-point, ten-assist games.

Not only is Haliburton finding the open man while creating for himself, but he is taking excellent care of the ball, recording only two turnovers in only two of his last 11 games. His 11.1 assist-to-turnover ratio in recent games is incredible, more than double first-place Tre Jones' season mark of 5.5 assists for every miscue.

In fact, Haiburton's recent stretch has him tied with Jones for the best ratio in the NBA overall, and it marks the first season where he has been in the top five.

As the Pacers prepare to take on the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday, Haliburton will have a chance to steal the title from Jones. He's been emerging as the best true point guard in the league after a rocky start to the season.
