Should Arsenal look over Isak and sign this€80m Bundesliga striker?

Eintracht Frankfurt

Arsenal’s summer priority will be to sign a new striker before the next season begins and the latest name that’s being linked with the Gunners is that of 22-year-old Hugo Ekitike.

After two disappointing seasons with PSG, the striker has revived his career with Eintracht Frankfurt and this season he has scored 19 goals in just 38 appearances for the German side. Eintracht are in no hurry to offload the Frenchman because his contract runs until 2029 but with the kind of season he’s having, the Bundesliga side is preparing themselves for multiple enquiries and bids over the course of the summer window.

As per a report in BILD, Arsenal are one such team who have shown an interest in Hugo Ekitike but the North London giants will have to be ready to shell out €80 million if they seriously wish to land him in the summer.

Should Arsenal spend so much on Hugo Ekitike?

€80 million is undoubtedly a steep price for a 22-year-old but we think Arsenal won’t be too worried with this amount. The Gunners have also been linked with Benjamin Sesko and he too has a similar price tag.

However, Hugo Ekitike is definitely not a priority target for Arsenal at the moment.

There’s no denying that the youngster has had a great season in Germany but Mikel Arteta and his management won’t be foolish enough to spend €80 million on a striker after just one successful campaign. This season he has an xG of 17.6 in the Bundesliga but in the 23/24 season, he had scored only 4 goals in 14 league appearances.

Ekitike is shaping up to be a top talent but the Gunners need someone who can come in and make an instant impact. Arteta cannot afford to sign a young talent and allow him his own sweet time to settle down in the Premier League.

World-class strikers like Viktor Gyokeres and Osimhen are also going to be available within a similar price range and if Arsenal are ready to add €15-20 million more, they can even get their hands on Alexander Isak. Isak is Arteta’s top priority and if the Newcastle man is available, the Gunners will go all out for him.

Several other top clubs, including Arsenal, will be interested in Hugo Ekitike in the coming weeks but unless Eintracht Frankfurt lower their demands, the 22-year-old should remain unsold in the summer.
