Draymond Green Offers Bold Claim About Cade Cunningham, Detroit Pistons

Draymond Green is not a man who is unfamiliar with controversy. In the case of the Detroit Pistons and Cade Cunningham, the loud statements made by Green are actually working in their favor, not against.

For those unfamiliar, the Golden State Warriors star hails from Michigan. Green was born in Saginaw. The four-time NBA champion also attended Michigan State during his NCAA years. Perhaps this is why Green has taken such interest in the Pistons with his recent remarks.

Obviously, the former Defensive Player of the Year knows a thing or two about winning. Green was a key cog in one of the biggest dynasties in NBA history. His two-way ability contributed heavily to all the success that the Warriors were able to experience from the mid 2010s onwards. Naturally, Stephen Curry played a big role too.

That being said, Green is a player who understands what it takes to win in the NBA. That's why his recent claim about Cunningham have to be music to the ears of Pistons fans everywhere.

"Cade Cunningham will bring a championship back to Detroit," Green said on an episode of his podcast.

The Pistons are enjoying their best season in recent memory during the 2024-25 campaign. They exceeded most experts' expectations heading into the year and hold an impressive record of 40-32 that is good enough for sixth in the Eastern Conference standings.

Cunningham has been the engine behind that success. The overwhelming favorite for this year's Most Improved Player award is averaged 25.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and 1.0 steal per game, while shooting 46.2 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from beyond the arc.

If the Pistons continue to properly build around Cunningham's talents, Green's prediction could one day become reality.
