The New York Giants have signed unrestricted free agent quarterback **Russell Wilson** (Pittsburgh Steelers). The deal is reportedly a 1-year contract worth up to $21 million, including $10.5 million in guaranteed money.
Wilson joins **Jameis Winston**, who the Giants signed last week from the Cleveland Browns, and **Tommy DeVito**, who the team-resigned earlier this month, in the quarterback room. The Giants had attempted to acquire **Matthew Stafford** by trade from the Los Angeles Rams and sign free agent quarterback **Aaron Rodgers**, but were rebuffed.
The 36-year old, 5’11”, 206-pound Wilson was originally drafted in the 3rd round of the 2012 NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks. He has spent time with the Seahawks (2012-2021) Denver Broncos (2022-2023), and Steelers (2024). In his 13-year career, Wilson has started all 199 regular-season games that he has played in, throwing for 46,135 yards, 350 touchdowns, and 111 interceptions. He has also run the ball for 5,462 yards and 31 touchdowns. Wilson won a Super Bowl in the 2013 season and has been voted to the Pro Bowl ten times in his career. He is 121-77-1 as a starter.
In 2024, Wilson started 11 regular-season games for the Steelers, finishing 6-5. He completed 214-of-336 passes (63.7 percent) for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, and five interceptions. He also rushed the ball 43 times for 155 yards and two touchdowns.
