MILWAUKEE, Wis. (WSAW) - Milwaukee Bucks point guard Damian Lillard will miss extended time dealing with a blood clot, the team announced today.
Lillard has been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in his calf. The team announced Lillard is taking a blood-thinning medication to help stabilize the clot.
“Damian’s health is our No. 1 priority,” said Bucks General Manager Jon Horst in a statement. “We will support him as he moves through this weekly process of strict criteria to ensure that it is safe for him to return to play. Doctors have indicated that his situation is very unlikely to occur again. We are thankful that this was identified and medicated quickly, which helps with the recovery.”
ESPN’s Shams Charania is reporting Lillard will be out for an indefinite amount of time. The Bucks have 11 games left in the regular season.
