Patrick Mahomes is often considered to be one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the National Football League (NFL). Mahomes was originally born on September 17, 1995, in Tyler, Texas. His father is Patrick Mahomes Sr., who was a professional baseball player in Major League Baseball (MLB). His father was a pitcher, which led to Mahomes playing both baseball and football in his early years. He credits his work as a pitcher with leading to his powerful arm as an NFL quarterback.
Mahomes attended Whitehouse High School in Whitehouse, Texas, where he played both football and baseball. He dominated in both of these sports, which led him to being named the Maxpreps Male Athlete of the Year in 2013. He was rated as a three-star recruit for football after graduating from high school.

By the end of his freshman year, Mahomes was named the full-time starter for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. He also threw for a record 598 yards and six touchdowns against the Baylor Bears.
Mahomes was named the starter for Texas Tech as a sophomore and junior. He recorded 4,653 passing yards and 46 total touchdowns as a sophomore, before recording 5,052 passing yards and 43 total touchdowns as a junior. He declared for the NFL draft following his junior year.
The Kansas City Chiefs selected Patrick Mahomes as the tenth overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He started only one game, backing up veteran QB Alex Smith. However, after the 2017 NFL season, the Chiefs traded Alex Smith and named Mahomes the starting quarterback going forward.

Since then, Mahomes has become one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. He has led the Chiefs to seven consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances and five total Super Bowl appearances since he took over as a starter in 2018. He has also won three Super Bowl Championships, being named the Super Bowl MVP in each of these wins. Mahomes has also won two NFL MVPs, been named to six Pro Bowls, and has set several NFL records. This includes:
Career passing yards per game
Passing touchdowns in a single postseason
Total yards by a quarterback in a season
Due to Mahomes' on-field success, Mahomes signed one of the most lucrative contracts in sports history. He signed a 10-year contract in 2020 that was valued at over $450 million. Additionally, Mahomes has recorded countless endorsement deals. Because of this, it is no wonder that Mahomes has the means to fly on a private jet when traveling. This is mostly due to his involvement with one of the most popular private jet providers in the United States, Airshare. Let's take a closer look at how Mahomes became an ambassador with Airshare. Let's also take a look at some of the unique aircraft that Mahomes flies on when he flies with Airshare.

The history of Airshare
Airshare has grown to become one of the most prominent private jet providers in the United States. The company was first founded in 2000 in Wichita, Kansas, which is a popular location for private operators due to its proximity to Cessna, Beechcraft, and Learjet, now Bombardier. The company began by offering fractional aircraft ownership services to many businesses in the area, expanding throughout the central United States.

Eventually, in 2004, Airshare moved its corporate headquarters to Kansas City, Kansas, before another move to Overland Park, Kansas, a suburb of Kansas City. At its new location, Airshare was able to continue expanding across the country.
By 2019, Airshare had expanded into the upper midwestern US. This includes services based in the following midwestern cities:
Chicago, Illinois
Louisville, Kentucky
Cincinnati, Ohio
Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Indianapolis, Indiana
In 2023, Airshare acquired the private jet management business segment of Wheels Up, another popular charter flight provider. This business segment was already established, due to recent growth from Wheels Up. This helped the company secure a footprint throughout the US, further expanding its fractional ownership and private jet operations across the country.

According to Private Jet Card Comparisons, Airshare was the eighth-largest provider of private jet flights in the US in 2024. The company recorded over 40,000 total private jet flight hours in 2024. This was an 85% increase from the 22,000 private jet flight hours that the company recorded in 2023. This large jump, which may be in part due to its partnership with Patrick Mahomes, helped the company make the jump from ninth-largest private jet provider to eighth-largest private jet provider year-over-year.
The involvement of Patrick Mahomes with Airshare
In 2018, prior to his first year as a starter when Mahomes also won his first NFL MVP, Mahomes signed a multi-year endorsement deal with Airshare. The deal made sense, as Airshare is based in Lenexa, Kansas, one of the suburbs of Kansas City, which is where the Chiefs are located.
Under the new endorsement deal with Airshare, Mahomes became a fractional owner of private jets in the Airshare fleet. It was initially unclear which aircraft he became a specific fractional owner of. He also became an ambassador for the company, becoming the face of Airshare for years to come.
After he signed with Airshare, Mahomes stated,
"Every single hour matters. There’s no way I’d be able to do all these different things and enjoy all my personal time without being an Airshare owner."
Several years later, Mahomes continued his partnership with Airshare. In June 2023, Airshare announced a multi-year extension of their marketing partnership with the Chiefs quarterback. This endorsement extension came after Mahomes won his second NFL MVP and led the Chiefs to another Super Bowl Championship.

At the time of the partnership extension, Mahomes mentioned that it was important to continue this partnership for a variety of reasons. As Mahomes grew as a quarterback and continued to expand his business portfolio, including developing a charitable organization, he continued to depend on the efficiency and convenience of flying with Airshare. He credits this partnership with his ability to maintain a high level of productivity every single day.
Mahomes also stated,
"Airshare was one of my first partnerships – they believed in me from the very beginning of my professional career as a starting quarterback. We have both experienced a lot of success over the last five years. As my travel needs have evolved, Airshare has always been there for me and my family. Now more than ever, I appreciate how flying private allows me to get the most out of my limited time during the offseason. I’m excited to continue our partnership."
The fleet of Airshare
Currently, Airshare operates two different aircraft in its fractional ownership program, one aircraft in the light business jet class and one in the super-midsize business jet class. The smallest aircraft in the fractional ownership fleet of Airshare is the Embraer Phenom 300.
The Phenom 300 is one of the most popular light business jets in the world. It has been the most produced private jet year-over-year for over ten straight years. Embraer , one of the world's largest aircraft manufacturers, first began development of the Phenom 300 in the early 2000s. Embraer was already beginning production of the very-light business jet known as the Phenom 100. However, many customers expressed interest in a larger variant of the Phenom 100 with improved performance specifications.

A new aircraft program was launched in 2004, which later became known as the Phenom 300. The first prototype aircraft conducted its maiden flight in April 2008. It was certified in December 2009, and it entered into service the following year. Since then, nearly 1,000 total Phenom 300s have been produced.
The Phenom 300 has become a popular choice for charter operations and private jet operators. It can accommodate up to eight passengers with an additional 76 cubic feet of baggage space. The aircraft is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535E turbofan engines, which each provide the aircraft with nearly 3,500 pounds of thrust.
These engines help the aircraft achieve the following performance specifications:

The other aircraft in the fractional ownership fleet of Airshare is the Bombardier Challenger 3500. This is the latest variant of the popular Challenger 300 series that was first launched in the late 1990s. The first Challenger 300 conducted its maiden flight in August 2001, and it was certified by Transport Canada by May 2003. Since it entered into service, over 1,000 variants have been produced.
