Deion Sanders made it clear there's one NFL team he wants his son, Shedeur Sanders, to land with in next month's NFL Draft.
"Let's hope it's New York," Sanders said on Monday at a conference in Chicago.
There has been plenty of speculation, but Shedeur has been projected as a top ten pick on most big boards. However, only so many teams in the top half of the draft order need a quarterback.
The Giants, who currently hold the No. 3 overall pick, send a strong message, and they're no longer in the market for another signal-caller after signing free agent Russell Wilson. All but shooting down Coach Prime's top destination for his son.
Russell signed a 1-year, $21 million deal with the Giants on Tuesday afternoon. He'll join fellow free agent passer Jameis Winston, who signed earlier this month.
Any list of possible teams for Sanders has been cut down drastically since the start of free agency. The Tennessee Titans have interviewed Colorado's QB three times since the end of the 2024 season. But Cam Ward will likely be this year's top overall pick and call Nashville his new home.
This puts the Cleveland Browns as the 'next team up', but there are a few factors why Sanders should hesitate to be the 41st QB since 1999. Kenny Pickett is the only option thus far at quarterback on the Browns' roster, leaving Shedeur as a good option at No. 2 overall.

Past the Browns, three other possibilities are the Las Vegas Raiders at No. 6, the other New York franchise, Jets, at No. 7, and the New Orleans Saints at No. 9. All three come with mixed reviews, given that Sanders would likely play a backup role behind Geno Smith in Sin City, along with competing in camp for the other two. Not to mention, Aaron Rodgers has yet to sign with a team and could very well take another spot.
