The Milwaukee Bucks were dealt some troubling news on Tuesday after it was reported that Damian Lillard has been ruled out indefinitely. What makes the issue more concerning is the nature of the nine-time All-Star's injury, as he was diagnosed with a blood clot issue.
The Bucks wasted no time providing a crucial update on their superstar's health shortly after the unfortunate news broke. In an official statement, the team confirmed that Lillard had been diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and that the 34-year-old is currently on blood-thinning medication.
Bucks general manager Jon Horst also sent a strong message of support for Lillard.
"Damian's health is our No. 1 priority," Horst said in the statement. "We will support him as he moves through this weekly process of strict criteria to ensure that it is safe to return to play.
"Doctors have indicated that his situation is very unlikely to occur again. We are thankful that this was identified and medicated quickly, which helps with the recovery."

Lillard is now out indefinitely as he nurses the same type of medical condition that forced the San Antonio Spurs to shut down Victor Wembanyama for the remainder of the season.
Lillard had played 58 games for Milwaukee this year, averaging 24.9 points, 4.7 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game, while also knocking down 3.4 triples on a 37.6% clip.
As of writing, the Bucks are fifth in the Eastern Conference with a 40-31 record.
