Grizzlies Control Second Half In Blow Win Over Jazz

SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah Jazz looked like a playoff contender for the first 18 minutes, then Memphis took over in a 140-103 blowout loss for the Jazz.

The Jazz (16-57) are hosting the Grizzlies (44-28) at Delta Center on Tuesday, March 25. Utah has the second-worst record in the league and the fewest wins in the Western Conference. The Grizzlies enter the night tied with the Los Angeles Lakers for the fourth-best mark in the West.

Third-year center Walker Kessler is enjoying a career year, averaging career-highs in points (11.3), rebounds (12.3), and blocks (2.4) while starting a career-best 55 games. The Auburn product leads the NBA in field goal percentage (71.7 percent), offensive rebounding (4.6), and rejections. He is the league’s fifth-leading rebounder, despite playing several fewer minutes per game than the top four.

Jazz Have Ten Games Left In 2024-25 Season

The Jazz are quickly approaching the end of one of the least successful regular seasons in franchise history.

With just 10 games remaining, the Jazz would have to go 7-3 to close the year to avoid finishing with the worst record in franchise history.

The organization has never won fewer than 23 regular-season games, and has finished with fewer than 30 only twice since 1982.

According to Tankathon, the Jazz have the fifth most difficult remaining schedule in the NBA, while ESPN projects the team to finish with just 18 wins, the lowest total in the league.

Utah hosts the Houston Rockets on Thursday, March 27, before embarking on a five-game road trip with stops in Denver, Charlotte, Houston, Indiana, and Atlanta.

Cody Williams, Isaiah Collier, and Walker Kessler are a combined 4-4 from the three-point line.

The Jazz's development program is working perfectly.

Second Quarter

Zach Edey has his flaws, but look at the amount of space every Grizzlies player has coming off his screens.

They get 3-4 feet of space every single time to make their next decision.

Nice luxury to have as a guard/playmaker.

This has been one of Cody Williams best halves of the season.

Not just because of the made threes, but showing off some of his natural defensive movement and potential as a passer.
