Medical evacuation from Gaza to Japan

On March 26, one Palestinian who had been hospitalized in Egypt after suffering injuries and illnesses due to the conflict in the Gaza Strip was transferred to Japan and began to receive treatment in the Self Defense Forces Central Hospital of the Ministry of Defense. Another Palestinian will be transferred to Japan and start to receive treatment in the coming days. This is part of medical assistance in response to the serious humanitarian situation in Gaza and the request from the World Health Organization (WHO). This effort was made in cooperation of the Government of Egypt. Those Palestinians are supposed to return to their original place after the treatment and not intended to settle down in Japan.

Japan, in close communication with relevant countries and international organizations, will continue to engage with the international efforts regarding improvement of humanitarian situations, reconstruction and governance of Gaza, and will redouble its diplomatic efforts towards achieving a two-state solution and establishing long-term peace and stability in the region.
