Man Utd prepared to agree £50million fee to secure player exit–Brown

Rasmus Hojlund - Denmark

Manchester United have had a season to forget on all accounts, disappointing massively in the Premier League as well as the domestic English cups.

However, if there has been one semblance to their current season, it is the fact that they are still in the running for the Europa League.

The Red Devils have changed managers mid-season but even that doesn’t seem to have brought about a change in fortunes for the club. That said, Ruben Amorim has tried to do things in a completely different way to his predecessors and such a change does not happen overnight.

There are a number of players in the current Man Utd squad who are majorly underperforming on potential and one player who firmly belongs to that bracket is talented Dane striker Rasmus Hojlund.

The player has failed to showcase the talent that made the Red Devils buy him from Atalanta for significant money.

Although Hojlund did manage to arrest his goalless streak just before the international break, it doesn’t seem to have done much to save his future at the club.

As per ex-scout Mick Brown exclusively on Football Insider, Man Utd are prepared to agree £50million fee to secure the exit of the Danish striker. Here is what he had to say:

“From what I’ve heard, they’ve set this £50million price tag because they want to make back as much as what they spent on him as they can.”

Although Man Utd’s decision to hold out for a fee close to the amount [£72m] they paid for Hojlund is understandable, it must be said that it doesn’t make much sense in expecting such a fee as things stand as the Dane’s performances have done nothing to convince any club to part with such an amount.

One needs to understand that Hojlund is still very young and still developing and could become an elite striker in the future but in the current Man Utd project, Amorim does not have the luxury to just sit around and wait. Thus, a difficult decision has to be made this summer.

Man Utd desperately need a striker who has the innate knack of finding the back of the net, and often, this would mean going for an experienced and proven figure.

If this means sacrificing Hojlund, the Man Utd need to take this chance and let’s wait and see how it plays out.
