**Tom Craddock**

The striker made his professional debut for Boro in the Premier League and played five times for the club.

A switch to Luton Town saw Craddock bag 34 goals in 77 games, with United swooping to sign him on summer deadline day in 2010.

Twenty-eight goals in 88 matches followed, before Craddock left at the end of the 2012/13 campaign.

**Marvin Johnson**

After starting his career with Kidderminster Harriers and Motherwell, Johnson joined the U’s in August 2016 for what is widely understood to have been a club record fee at the time.

After one season at United, the winger switched to Boro for a fee believed to be in the region of £2.5 million.

He spent four years at the Riverside Stadium, and has been at Sheffield Wednesday since August 2021.

**Robbie Mustoe**

Witney-born Mustoe began his career with the U’s, netting 10 goals in 98 matches.

The midfielder joined Boro in July 1990 and spent 12 years with the club.

Mustoe scored 34 goals in 454 games, and won the First Division title during the 1994/95 season, in addition to being runner-up in one FA Cup and two League Cup finals.

The left back began his career at Bolton Wanderers, and after a stint at Rangers, joined United in 1988.

He played 89 times for the club before switching to Boro in March 1990.

Phillips made 170 appearances for Boro, and then ended his playing career back at his first club Bolton.

**Dean Whitehead**

U’s youth product Whitehead made 136 appearances for the club, scoring nine goals, before joining Sunderland in June 2004.

The Abingdon-born midfielder spent five years at the Stadium of Light, and was twice a Championship winner with the Black Cats.

He joined Stoke City for £3m in July 2009, and made 158 appearances, including as a substitute in the 1-0 FA Cup final defeat to Manchester City in 2011.

Whitehead spent the final five years of his career with Boro and Huddersfield Town.

**Dean Windass**

The striker enjoyed fruitful spells at Hull City and Aberdeen prior to joining United for a club record £475,000 fee in July 1998.

He scored 18 goals in 38 games, and then moved to Bradford City. Subsequent permanent stints followed at Boro, Sheffield United, returns to the Bantams and the Tigers, and Darlington.

Windass, 55, was diagnosed with dementia in January.
