On 21 March, Ambassador Liu Yantao gave a lecture on the Two Sessions at the University of Cyprus. The event was attended by over 60 participants, including Cypriot university faculties and students as well as diplomatic envoys.

Under the theme of “The Two Sessions: Democracy, Development and Diplomacy of China”, Ambassador Liu elaborated on the key messages of the Two Sessions. He pointed out that as a window on China, the Two Sessions is a concrete example of China’s true and vibrant democracy, presents the bright prospect of China’s high-quality development, and reveals the global importance of major-country diplomacy with Chinese characteristics.
Ambassador Liu stressed that China and Cyprus are good friends, good brothers and good partners. China is ready to work with Cyprus to further deepen the strategic partnership, and strengthen all-around exchanges and cooperation, so as to consolidate the friendship between the two countries, and usher in a better future for China-EU relations.
Ambassador Liu then answered questions, including on the Chinese economy, democracy, people’s livelihood, major-country relations, the Taiwan question, and international and regional hotspots. The event was lively with active interactions.
