Potter to get major boost to his transfer kitty with £27m West Ham man set for summer exit

West Ham United head coach Graham Potter will need to move on numerous players this summer.

Graham Potter is plotting a big rebuild at West Ham, but funds are said to be tight at the London Stadium right now.

West Ham have the oldest squad in the Premier League, and Graham Potter plans to change that by injecting more youth and dynamism into his ranks this summer.

That’s exactly what the Hammers need, if we are to make some genuine progress as a club.

However, a lot of the deadwood needs to be shipped out of the London Stadium first.

And fortunately for Potter, it seems like West Ham could be in for a fairly substantial transfer windfall this summer.

Big Graham Potter boost with Nayef Aguerd set for West Ham exit

According to a report from Estadio Deportivo, Real Sociedad are keen to sign Nayef Aguerd on a permanent deal this summer.

Incredibly, Manchester United are said to be interested in signing Nayef Aguerd from West Ham as well this summer, after his fine form out in Spain.

MORE WEST HAM STORIES

Aguerd joined the Hammers from Rennes in the summer of 2022, for around £27 million.

The 28-year-old was very highly rated out in France, but he quickly proved to be painfully ill-suited to the Premier League.

The Moroccan’s lack of physicality meant that he was regularly targeted by the opposition.

His positional awareness was woeful and he was far too easily beaten by simple balls over the top.

Aguerd’s continual shirking of challenges drove the West Ham fans crazy in the end as well.

Sure, he’s excelling in La Liga, but don’t let that blind you. The centre-back will never succeed in the Premier League, and the Hammers simply must sell him this summer.

The good news is that he has been truly exceptional for Sociedad this season, so West Ham should pick up a decent fee for him.

Nayef Aguerd has done what no other La Liga player has done this season

Aguerd is proving that he is actually a good player, but is simply more suited to playing in a different country.

He is really impressing out in La Liga so far this season, and has done something that no other La Liga player has been able to do.

Aguerd has kept more clean sheets than any other defender, goalkeeper, or outfield player for that matter.

Sociedad have the most clean sheets in La Liga with 12, and the Moroccan has played in 10 of those games.

However, West Ham simply have to sell Nayef Aguerd this summer, despite his fine form for Sociedad.

And it looks like we could be in line for a fairly big fee.
