Sporting Lisbon winger Francisco Trincao is held in “very high regard” by both Manchester City and Manchester United, according to reports in Portugal.
It has been suggested that Arsenal and Newcastle are also interested in the Portuguese international but tabloid ABOLA claim that the two Manchester clubs are the likeliest to make bids for the player this summer.
Trincao has caught the eye with his performances on the right of Sporting’s front three this season, having scored 8 goals and contributed 12 assists in 26 league appearances.

That form hasn’t translated to the European stage, though, where he only produced 2 assists in 9 Champions League matches. Even so, his asking price is expected to be very steep.
Sporting want clubs to match Trincao’s release clause
A buyout fee worth €80m (£67m) was included in the 25-year-old’s contract when he sealed a permanent move from Barcelona at the start of last campaign.
However, Barca have kept a 50% sell-on clause on Trincao, meaning that Sporting will only receive half of any future transfer fee. Consequently, they will not accept an offer below €80m.
Do City need to sign another winger?
Manager Pep Guardiola already has the likes of Savinho, Jeremy Doku, Oscar Bobb and Jack Grealish available to him as options out wide.
It has been reported that Grealish will be sold if a club is willing to pay £40m for the England international this summer so that would open up the possibility of a player like Trincao being brought in.
It is still questionable whether any club would meet his €80m valuation. He did have a loan spell at Wolves a few years ago where he struggled.
Since then, Trincao has matured and improved, but you would still have doubts over whether he would be worth the money.
