Enzo Fernandez stars for Argentina in huge win over Brazil, Chelsea man'dominated'midfield

The international break has brought some success for Chelsea players as they look to gain any momentum ahead of a key run of league fixtures.

The Blues are under immense pressure to finish in the top five of the Premier League, and therefore qualify for the Champions League for next season.

Reece James’ stunning free-kick was the best possible preperation for him, and now his midfield partner of recent weeks, Enzo Fernandez, starred for his country.

Argentina beat Brazil 4-1 in the mega clash in South America, with the Chelsea man providing a goal and an assist in the first half.

Fernandez had impressed against Uruguay too, however took things to a new level with his display against Brazil.

Enzo Fernandez ‘dominates’ for Argentina vs Brazil

The Blues star may get some personal vindication from the big win over their South American neighbours, after Fernandez clashed with Gabriel during Chelsea’s last game against Arsenal.

TyC Sports handed Fernandez a 9/10 Man of the Match after his performance, stating that he was unbeatable in the middle of the park.

They said: “Enzo seems to understand everything that’s happening on the pitch and plays accordingly. He started and finished the 2-0 and provided a remarkable assist for Alexis in the third. He dominated the second half.”

Fernandez will now be hoping to take this form with him back to Stamford Bridge, with the Blues’ next game against local rivals Tottenham.

Fernandez shows Argentina don’t need Lionel Messi

The Chelsea man already has 35 appearances to his name for his country, and was a key component to them winning the World Cup just before his move to West London.

He now has five goals and six assists for Argentina, proving to be an important player even in the absence of one of the best of all time.

Lionel Messi was not in action for the South American side due to injury, however the Blues star backed up the fact that he is one of the most important players for his nation.

This mirrors how crucial he has been for Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, with him set to be a key factor in how their season ends with nine games remaining.
