The wildfire crisis escalated when a firefighting helicopter crashed in a mountainous area in Uiseong county on Wednesday. Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.
In response to the worsening situation, thousands of firefighters and around 5,000 military personnel have been deployed to bring multiple blazes under control across the country.
This includes assistance from US military helicopters stationed in Korea.
