Report: Everton perform major contract U-turn after what David Moyes has told the Friedkins

Everton’s contract headache is set to roll into the final weeks of the 2024/25 campaign.

David Moyes has remained adamant that new contracts will not be handed out on Merseyside until the club mathematically secure their survival.

Although an extremely difficult April awaits Everton, the Toffees have all but secured their Premier League status for next season.

Idrissa Gana Gueye is expected to be handed a new Everton deal following another solid campaign from the Senegal international.

Questions remain surrounding a number of other players, however.

Abdoulaye Doucoure has admitted he’ll be leaving Everton at the end of the season with his deal not being extended.

But there are plenty of other players who are yet to see their future made any clearer than it was last summer.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s Everton future latest

One of the players seeing their contract run down is striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has endured another torrid season.

Everton have been keen to hand Calvert-Lewin a new contract, but there has been little in the way of agreement from the striker.

According to iNews, there is now a growing expectation that the 28-year-old will be moving on over the summer.

Moyes is keen to only employ players who are readily available and not suffering regular injury issues.

Calvert-Lewin is certainly a player who would fall into the category of suffering frequently from various injuries.

Calvert-Lewin is closing in on a return to training after suffering a significant injury in the game against Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this year.

But the striker is running out of time to put pen to paper on a new deal with the Blues ahead of what is going to be seismic summer for the Friedkins.

Everton need to move on from Calvert-Lewin

This is set to be a huge summer for Everton who are looking to massively change the trajectory of the club.

In order to do so, the Friedkins cannot be made to wait on a contract decision by a player of this quality.

Calvert-Lewin has not impressed Everton fans this season in what has been yet another hugely underwhelming campaign for the striker.

Beto has shown promising signs of providing goals at a rate Calvert-Lewin has not done for years now.

Moyes wants Everton to sign a new forward and now feels like the perfect time to move on from Calvert-Lewin.
