Leeds United star Manor Solomon shares what 'sucked' after facing Erling Haaland for Israel

There were plenty of positives to take for Israel during the March international break having beaten Estonia on the weekend, but they were powerless to prevent Norway from winning 4-2 last night.

Solomon laid on a match-winning assist for Israel to beat Estonia 2-1, which was described as “brilliant” by Israeli media. But on Tuesday night, Norway provided a much tougher test and so it turned out.

A side containing Erling Haaland, Martin Odegaard, Sander Berge and other Premier League stars cruised to a 4-2 win, with the scoreline slightly flattering Israel who scored a consolation through Dor Turgeman.

Israel did equalise after Norway took the lead but it didn’t last long, as Arsenal skipper Odegaard took the game by the scruff of the neck and laid on three assists – with Haaland scoring Norway’s fourth goal.

Manor Solomon shares what “sucked” as Leeds United star loses

Israel media described Solomon as one of his side’s “most-prominent” players on the night and he came close to getting his name on the score sheet – what would have been his eighth goal for his country.

But, Solomon’s effort in the 53rd minute which saw the on-loan Leeds man cut inside and lash a low shot on goal only to be thwarted by Orjan Nyland, left Solomon frustrated. He said it “sucked” after the game.

“Their goalkeeper took a huge ball from me and it sucks. I did everything right, they were aiming. I have to do my thing, unfortunately today it didn’t translate into goals, but I’ll keep trying,” he told Sport 5.

Manor Solomon’s Israel stats in numbers over the years

Solomon is arguably Israel’s most-important player alongside Oscar Gloukh, already captaining his nation. On Tuesday night, he proved as much but could not find the telling touch as Norway ran out winners.

That is now eight games without a goal for club and country but Solomon will be excited as Swansea are up next for Leeds. A side in which the on-loan Tottenham man scored two goals against, in November.

Leeds 33 (23) 2031 7 8 135.4

Leeds need Solomon firing at his very best but with no goals in eight games, Daniel Farke will be slightly concerned. Hopefully, the Israel star finds the back of the net and Leeds get back to winning ways.
