It's no secret that the Denver Broncos are looking at running backs in this year's NFL Draft.
Nearly every mock draft out there will have at most two running backs going in the first round, but there is one running back that could be climbing up the draft boards.
Bucky Brooks of NFL Network put out his 3.0 mock draft and has the Broncos selecting Ohio State running back, TreVeyon Henderson.
"Adding a running back is a top priority for an offense looking to support a young franchise QB in second-year pro Bo Nix. Henderson's speed and explosiveness add a big-play dimension to a grind-it-out offense," Brooks explained.
Henderson played all four seasons at Ohio State and racked up a 1,000-yard season as a freshman and as a senior.
During his senior year, Henderson split carries for the Buckeyes with other future draft pick, Quinshon Judkins and still averaged a career-high 7.1 yards per carry.
In his four seasons at Ohio State, Henderson found the endzone 42 times on the ground, with 15 of those touchdowns coming as a freshman. Henderson also caught six touchdowns in his career.
If the Broncos were to draft Henderson 20th overall, he would become the opening day starter with the opportunity of reaching the 1,000-yard mark as a rookie.
Denver has not had a 1,000-yard rusher since Phillip Lindsay in 2019.
Last season, Javonte Williams led the Broncos in rushing with just 513 yards and signed with the Dallas Cowboys in free agency.
Currently, Denver's running back room consists of Jaleel McLaughlin, Audric Estime, Tyler Badie, and Blake Watson. Last season, those four running backs combined for 902 rushing yards and just three touchdowns.
Unfortunately, if the Broncos were looking to trade up for a running back in Brooks' mock draft, the price might be too steep for them.
Brooks has Boise St. running back, Ashton Jeanty going sixth overall to the Las Vegas Raiders and North Carolina running back, Omarion Hampton being selected 10th overall by the Chicago Bears.
Drafting a tight end in the first-round could be an option for the Broncos if they don't like the running backs that are available when they pick. Brooks does have Colston Loveland available with the 20th pick, but he has the Michigan standout going to Los Angeles to team back up with his former head coach, Jim Harbaugh of the Chargers.
There's no doubt that the Broncos will land a running back in this year's draft; it's just a matter of when.
