Amad Diallo boost

Man Utd have been given a potential injury boost after Amad Diallo appeared to hint at an early comeback with a Snapchat post.

The 22-year-old had been United's best player this season until he suffered a setback last month.

The Ivory Coast star showed a picture of himself on Snapchat along with two emojis - an egg timer and a smiley face.

It appeared to suggest that Diallo's recovery is coming along well.

But it remains to be seen whether he does indeed return before the end of the campaign.

Garnacho 'must look in the mirror'

Paul Parker has explained his “massive disappointment” over Alejandro Garnacho.

The ex-United and England defender told SpilXperten: “We can’t keep using the excuse that Garnacho is young. He is not young anymore, at least not in football.

“He turns 21 in the summer and before he knows he will be 30. He needs to understand that and start performing.

“The best players, like Ryan Giggs, were not considered young when he was 21.

“Garnacho might be immature but he is not young anymore, and it is a massive disappointment that he is not performing at all.

“He is not playing like an adult and he is certainly not acting like an adult, and he has to have a good look in the mirror, to tell himself that he needs to stop thinking about being the next [Cristiano] Ronaldo.

“He will never be that, so he has to accept the fact that he needs to work hard to get a decent career.”

Utd and Arsenal linked to Olympiacos whizkids

Babis Kostoulas and Christos Mouzakitis were among the main protagonists of that historic triumph that saw them become part of the first ever Greek team to win a European title, shortly before the seniors conquered the Europa Conference League.

Both of them were quickly promoted into Olympiacos’ first team under manager Jose Luis Mendilibar last summer.

Highly-rated forward Kostoulas, 17, has so far amassed a total of six goals and two assists in 33 appearances with the Piraeus outfit this season.

And rising midfield star Mouzakitis, 18, has registered two goals as well as four assists in 30 appearances across all competitions.

Lowdown on Amorim revolution

IN THE modern game, it seems all the best teams play out from the back, writes JOSHUA JONES.

But Ruben Amorim is going the other way - by getting his goalkeeper to hoof it long.

Andre Onana was signed from Inter in 2023 due to his ability to play out from the back.

Yes, there have been some high-profile blunders along the way.

But by and large, Onana is confident with the ball at his feet.

However, the stats show he is being asked to kick it long far more - that passing short when under pressure is simply not worth the risk.

After all, United have lost the ball 142 times in their own defensive third this season - the sixth-most of the 20 top-flight teams.

As reported by The Athletic, Opta stats show only five goalkeepers have done more "launches" in the Premier League this season.

A "launch" is defined as a high ball - 40 yards of longer - into space or an area for players to chase or challenge.

Of those, only Dean Henderson has completed fewer than Onana's 25.8 per cent of 380 punts upfield.

Here's our full look at the keeper's changing role:

Onana's new style - It's a long story

Andre Onana's foot skills were a major reason Man Utd signed him - but he's using them less under Ruben Amorim.

The keeper is happier to clear long more often - and it's no coincidence, according to The Athletic.

Short balls remains the Cameroonian's most common option - but now, over the whole season, only five Prem stoppers have gone long (40 yards or more) less.

But Onana has completed just 25.8% - with Crystal Palace’s ex-United keeper Dean Henderson the only one of the to-five with a lower rate.

It's all down to Amorim's willingness to play with more flexibility.

The boss recently said: “Sometimes we have short goal kicks and then sometimes long balls, because the opponent is pressing a lo

“I try to adapt to the players we have.”

The only realistic route into the competition for Ruben Amorim’s side will be through winning the Europa League.

Fans hope that means he's counting down the time to returning after the international break.

'Ronaldo fan boy' Garnacho has 'lost fire in belly'

Ex-United defender Paul Parker claims winger Alejandro Garnacho is playing with far less hunger that when he joined the Red Devils.

Parker told SpilXperten:"I liked him when he came through and he had that Argentinian fire in his belly, which he has lost completely.

He has let himself and his family down. He has let his club down, because he is not taking advantage of the talent he was supposed to have.

"I am not seeing anything from him. The most important thing for him now is to understand what he is good at and what he is bad at.

"He can't take on people, he is not quick enough and he doesn't want to work hard.

"So, what is he actually good at? He needs to figure that out and show it, rather than just wanting to be the next Ronaldo.

"Because at the moment, to me, he just seems like a Ronaldo fanboy, who would rather make a few highlights to post them on social media rather than winning football matches and make this club great again."

Jadon permanent exit looks nailed on

Chelsea are still said to be keen on making Jadon Sancho’s loan permanent this summer.

The Blues have a £25million obligation to buy the winger once his season-long loan at Stamford Bridge has ended.

Should Chelsea break the agreement and not sign Sancho permanently, they would have to pay a £5million penalty payment to the Red Devils.

But the London club are still reportedly keen on the 25-year-old despite his drop in form since the turn of the year.

Jesse Lingard struggled with his octopus

Lingard recently headed to Gwangjang Market with pals to try Korean street food, sharing the results on his YouTube channel.

During the tasting, the midfielder gasped as he saw that the octopus on his plate was still moving. Lingard said: "Why are you moving? I can't eat because I'm scared."

The Mancunian kept repeating that he was "scared", before adding: "I can't do it."

After eventually eating the octopus, Lingard began to calm down.

He then grinned as he said: "It's easy. I was just playing around." Lingard even claimed that the food was "not bad".

San-naki - meaning live octopus - is a popular dish in South Korea. The octopus is said to be killed just before serving - but its sliced, raw tentacles are still moving due to nerve activity.

Having also clashed with head coach Ruben Amorim on at least two occasions, he is now at risk of being sold when the transfer window opens.

The winger's attitude has come into question several times this season, with the latest concerns expressed after he stormed down the Old Trafford tunnel mid-match after being substituted last month.

Club legend Paul Scholes slammed him for "sulking" in the wake of the incident.

And now ex-full-back Parker has given his brutal verdict on the youngster.

Window of change this summer?

Premier League chiefs are reportedly set to hold talks over a potential change to the summer transfer window.

Last summer the transfer window closed on August 31, 2024, and this summer it will open officially on June 12.

However, new plans could see the 2025 summer window closed on August 14, two days BEFORE the start of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

The measure, put forward in early February at a meeting between the sporting directors of Prem clubs, is not new to English football, having been introduced and later abandoned in 2018 and 2019.

Club chiefs will discuss the proposal in a meeting on Thursday, as reported by The Telegraph.

Passing the change will require a super-majority of 14 clubs, although if preliminary discussions indicate a lack of support it may be struck down before a vote.

The main argument in favour of the move is sporting directors believing the integrity of the league would be better served by stopping all trading before the season starts on August 16.

Additional discussions have proposed cutting the January transfer window down to just two weeks to minimise disruption to squads during the season.

Red Devils rejected FREE 80,000-seat stadium move

Manchester United turned down the chance to move into a new 80,000-seater stadium for FREE, according to an MP.

The club announced two weeks ago that they plan to build a new state-of-the-art venue at a cost of £2billion.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe wants a "Wembley of the North" with a bold umbrella-style design to replace Old Trafford, which has been in decay for several years.

It comes after a Manchester MP claimed United missed the opportunity to move out their deteriorating spiritual home free of charge.

The area hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2002 and the council decided to build a new venue for the event.

When Manchester was announced as the host city in 1995, United were supposedly spoken to about moving into the brand new stadium.

The club would not have had to pay a penny as the council were desperate for the Games to have a legacy - but United still declined.

Their bitter rivals City grasped the chance and moved into the City of Manchester Stadium, now the Etihad, in 2003.

Napoli linked to Rasmus

Man Utd striker Rasmus Hojlund has emerged as a target for Napoli, according to reports.

The 22-year-old is being heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford prior to the summer window.

Italian outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport has claimed that Napoli want to sign him.

Man Utd allegedly want £50m for the striker, who is understood to be open to a return to Italy.

Napoli believe that convincing Hojlund to complete the switch will not be difficult.

Should the Denmark international swap United for Napoli this summer, it may open the door for a huge swap deal that could see Victor Osimhen head the other way.

Ashworth nears return

Former Man Utd chief Dan Ashworth is in line to return to football with a senior role at the FA, according to reports.

It's claimed that he would be joining in a role that would see him oversee the "St George's Park 2.0 project" - a huge redevelopment project of England's training ground facilities announced last month.

It's thought that Ashworth would also look after both the men’s and women’s senior and junior teams, looking closely at coach development.
