Marco Silva will be in pole position to succeed Ange Postecoglou if Tottenham Hotspur go ahead and sack their manager.
That’s according to former Tottenham scout Mick Brown, who remains well-connected within the game, as exclusively told Football Insider that he doesn’t see Postecoglou lasting beyond the end of the current campaign.
Spurs sit a lowly 14th in the Premier League table following 15 defeats from their 29 matches, and having exited both the EFL and FA Cups within days of one another, only have the Europa League left to play for.
Postecoglou has long since been under pressure to save his job this term amid the Lilywhites’ lengthy runs of poor results, and Fulham boss Silva is seen as an ideal candidate after their impressive season.
Fulham are six places above Tottenham in the league table and sit two points outside the European places, deservedly beating Postecoglou’s side 2-0 in their last match before the international break.

Silva’s long-term future at Fulham has come under scrutiny given the interest from Tottenham and other European clubs, with a new contract on the table at Craven Cottage in an attempt to keep him there.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, sees the Fulham boss, 47, as one of Tottenham’s leading managerial targets this summer.
“Tottenham, unless they put a run together from now to the end of the season, you would think that things might happen [to Postecoglou] there in terms of the sack for the manager”, Brown told Football Insider.
“Silva would certainly be top of the pops in terms of competition for that [managerial] spot, that’s what I’m hearing from my sources there.”

Tottenham run risk of missing out on Marco Silva
Silva’s current deal at Fulham has so far been enough to ward off Tottenham and other interested clubs, with a £7.5million release clause putting Daniel Levy off enacting a mid-season hire for the 47-year-old.
Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola is another manager whose reputation has grown massively this term, but Silva’s five seasons of Premier League experience have made him the preferred candidate for Spurs.
However, if Silva does sign a new deal at Craven Cottage, Levy will be forced to look elsewhere, and as a result, Tottenham must make an decision on Postecoglou’s future as soon as possible if they’re to avoid missing out on their first-choice candidate to replace him.
