22-year-old Liverpool left-back “ready to make a permanent move” away from Anfield this summer

Liverpool defender Owen Beck is likely to leave Anfield on a permanent transfer this summer after an impressive loan spell with Blackburn Rovers.

The 22-year-old left-back has caught the eye in the Championship, but with Liverpool set to sign another left-back, his chances of breaking into the first team appear slim.

Beck’s impressive loan spell

After previously impressing in Scotland, Beck has handled the step up to Championship football well, making himself a key player for Blackburn Rovers when fit.

His defensive solidity, combined with his attacking threat down the left flank, has made him a standout performer at Ewood Park.

Despite his strong form, Liverpool journalist David Lynch believes the Welshman is “ready” to move on permanently. Speaking on Anfield Index, he stated: “I actually thought that Owen Beck was the closest to making the first team after impressing on loan at Blackburn Rovers, but he will likely leave this summer too.

“He’s 22, he’s ready to make a permanent move, and Liverpool are going to sign a left-back. They’ve got Andy Robertson, they’ve got [Kostas] Tsimikas—one of whom they need to shift.”

With Andy Robertson still a key figure and Liverpool actively searching for a new left-back, it’s difficult to see a pathway for Beck in Arne Slot’s plans.

Potential destinations for Beck

Blackburn Rovers could be interested in making Beck’s move permanent, given his success there this season.

However, Sheffield United have also been linked with the full-back and could emerge as a strong contender for his signature.

The Blades, who currently have Harrison Burrows as their starting left-back, could see Beck as an ideal option to bolster their squad, regardless of whether they remain in the Premier League or drop to the Championship.

The next step for Beck

At 22, Beck is at a crucial stage in his career where regular first-team football is essential.

While Liverpool may have once viewed him as a potential long-term successor at left-back, the club’s transfer plans suggest he will have to find a new home to continue his development.

With multiple clubs likely to be interested, the Welshman will have options this summer – and his performances for Blackburn have certainly ensured he’ll be in demand.
