Russell Wilson sends message after leaving Steelers for Giants: ‘Been here before’

Russell Wilson is officially a New York Giant and is gone from the Pittsburgh Steelers. After leaving the Steelers, Wilson took to his social media to send a message to his new team, the Giants.

"Been here before… can’t wait to do it again," Wilson said about MetLife Stadium, where the Giants play.

Wilson’s new team will likely hand him the starting job once again, another landing spot for a quarterback who is hoping to play multiple more years even as he turns 36.

Wilson’s deal will have $10.5 million guaranteed and could be worth up to $21 million. He will certainly start for the Giants ahead of Jameis Winston, who they signed last week.

Wilson’s play tailed off sharply toward the end of the season. On top of that, a report dropped in January that offensive coordinator Arthur Smith took away Wilson’s ability to work at he line of scrimmage. That could have irked people in the organization.

Sources told PennLive at the NFL Combine that Wilson’s end of the season struggles paired with a report that offensive coordinator Arthur Smith took away his freedom at the line of scrimmage ruffled feathers in the building.

It would have taken a mending of relationships for Wilson to return to the Steelers. Even if Rodgers chooses to go elsewhere, Pittsburgh seems somewhat content with what they have at the position.

But now it is official the team will not have any of their three quarterbacks on the team for the second straight season.
