Former Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley could be on the move again just a year after joining Brighton in a £25 million switch. The Danish international has struggled to find form or fitness in the Premier League and is now attracting interest from Italy, with Roma among the clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
Journalist Graeme Bailey has reported that the Serie A side are keen to offer O’Riley a route out of what has been a frustrating spell in England. The 24-year-old was named Celtic’s Player of the Season before his big-money move last summer, but injuries and inconsistent minutes have seen him slip out of the picture on the south coast.

At his best in Glasgow, O’Riley was a standout under Brendan Rodgers, offering both creativity and work rate from midfield. His departure left a significant gap, but if the rumours of Roma’s interest are accurate, it could trigger a fresh chapter for the talented playmaker as he looks to revive his career on the continent.
Celtic will watch with interest as one of last season’s heroes considers his next move. If the Brighton spell is to be cut short, the Hoops would be due some of his next transfer fee with a sell-on attached.
