Arsenal star Kai Havertz and his wife supported as they issue huge family update

Kai Havertz and his wife Sophia have announced the birth of their first child.

The couple revealed her pregnancy in late November, describing it as the "biggest blessing".

Then, on Wednesday morning, Havertz posted a photo of them holding the hand of their newborn on Instagram.

"Welcome to the world our little boy (light blue heart emoji) We love you so much!" the caption reads.

Both reposted it onto their stories, with Sophia adding the words "my whole world" underneath.

They have been in a relationship since 2018, when Havertz was still playing for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany.

The week after his £65million move from Chelsea to Arsenal, they announced their engagement, with the wedding taking place last summer.

After their latest update, several past and present team-mates have sent the pair their support.

Jurrien Timber, Martin Odegaard, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Thomas Partey commented red hearts on their post, as did the club's official account.

Those four, plus the club, also liked the post. So did Albert Sambi Lokonga, Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice, Emile Smith Rowe, Ethan Nwaneri, Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard.

Leverkusen also commented: "Congratulations to the entire Havertz family!"

Team-mates from his time at the Bundesliga club, Benjamin Henrichs, Karim Bellarabi, Moussa Diaby and Niklas Lomb, also commented with various emojis.

Marcos Alonso, his ex-Chelsea team-mate, also sent his support, commenting: "Wowww! Congratz!!!"

The support they are receiving is overwhelmingly positive from fans and friends alike.

But it has not always been that way on social media, with the pair receiving shocking abuse on social media in the aftermath of Arsenal's FA Cup third-round tie against Manchester United.

Sophia shared screenshots of some of the messages at the time, including threats to their unborn child, soon after which Hertfordshire Police arrested a teenage boy on suspicion of malicious communications.
