The Argentina vs Brazil clash on Tuesday night produced some truly magnificent football, and some terrible moments for the away team as well.
Buenos Aires hosted the Argentina v Brazil World Cup qualifying showdown, and West Ham were sent a very timely reminder during the World Cup winner’s 4-1 demolition or their arch rivals.
Brazil now sit in fourth place in the South American World Cup qualifying standings, a full 10 points adrift of Argentina.
The Hammers will have numerous players participating at the 2026 World Cup out in American next year.

However, one of our very best players may never play again, let alone during FIFA’s showpiece event in 2026.
West Ham sent Lucas Paqueta message during Argentina v Brazil
Lucas Paqueta has endured a traumatic last 18 months or so, after being accused of potentially breaching betting rules.
Things are looking bleak for him right now. West Ham star Lucas Paqueta failed to hand over his phone to the FA for a second time a few months back, because had already disposed of it.
And if he is found guilty of the charges levelled against him, he could well be finished in the game.

It has since been claimed that the West Ham owners fear Lucas Paqueta could receive a lifetime ban if he’s proven guilty of the charges he faces.
That would obviously be an absolute nightmare for the Hammers, Paqueta himself and of course, the Brazil national team.

One thing’s for sure, after Tuesday’s embarrassing defeat to Argentina, Dorival Junior, his players and the entire country of Brazil will be praying that Paqueta is proven innocent.
Brazil’s midfield missed Lucas Paqueta badly against Argentina
Paqueta’s ability to take the ball in tight spaces is hugely underrated.
And without him last night, it was obvious to see that Brazil really missed his ability on the ball.
Andre and Joelinton played in the middle of the park for the Samba Boys, but neither of them possess the technical ability that the former Lyon star does.
The fact that Brazil missed Lucas Paqueta so badly should be a timely reminder for the West Ham fans of just how good he is.
Let’s all keep our fingers and toes crossed that Paqueta’s trial has a happy ending for him.
