While the senior side battled their way to a well-earned point in North Macedonia, there was one Wales side that enjoyed a more successful evening.

After slumping to defeats at the hands of England and Portugal, Chris Gunter's under-19s side ended their Elite Round qualifying campaign for this summer's European Championships with an impressive 3-1 win over Turkey at Belle Vue in Rhyl.

Goals from Plymouth starlet Freddie Issaka, Manchester United striker Gabriele Biancheri and Norwich City's Elliot Myles were enough to seal victory for the young Dragons, who finished third in Group G with three points from their three games. England, by virtue of winning the group, have booked their place in the finals.

Highly-rated Leeds United youngster Charlie Crew also featured, while Cardiff City quintet Luke Armstrong, Luey Giles, Dylan Lawlor, Cody Twose and Dakarai Mafico also started from the off. Swansea City's Sam Parker appeared from the bench too, but there was another more familiar name also included.

Zach Giggs, the son of former Wales star and manager Ryan, has been on the books at Sheffield United since the decision was made for him to leave Manchester United's academy in 2023. Tuesday night's outing was his fifth international appearance at under-19 level.

The 18-year-old is also eligible for England, but has so far progressed through the age grades with Wales after previously appearing for the under-17s. He mainly plays as a left-back, but was also deployed on the right and in the centre of defence during his time in the youth ranks at Old Trafford.

He's one of several young Welsh stars hoping to follow in the footsteps of their fathers, with both Lewis Koumas and Charlie Savage, sons of Jason and Robbie respectively, already featuring at senior level.
