Sky Sports share Everton update on interest in Chris Rigg after his goal for England U19s

With Premier League survival all but sealed, the Toffees can finally use the remaining weeks of the season to get plans in place for the transfer window.

Investment is certainly going to be needed considering the number of players set to leave the club at the end of their deals.

Everton battling to sign Sunderland’s Chris Rigg

The Toffees are eyeing young midfielders this summer, with Everton already linked with Mahamadou Doumbia from Antwerp.

Additions are going to be needed with Orel Mangala set to return to Lyon at the end of his loan deal which was hindered by injury.

According to Sky Sports, Everton are now showing an interest in the Sunderland wonderkid Chris Rigg.

But there are a number of Premier League clubs keen to land the 17-year-old ace with West Ham also on the scene.

Everton will also have to battle Manchester United for Rigg, as the list of suitors continues to grow for one of the country’s hottest young players valued at £25m.

And Sky believes there is even interest coming from the Bundesliga with the likes of Borussia Dortmund, known for their ability to develop talent – although they are not specifically named.

Despite his age, Rigg has become a mainstay in the Sunderland side battling for promotion back to the Premier League.

The youngster even scored the winning goal for England’s U19s side on Tuesday night.

Regis Le Bris’ side are in a good spot to battle it out in the play-offs for promotion, which could raise further questions over his future.

If Sunderland are to be promoted, Rigg may well look to remain on Wearside for another year with the club his has progressed through the ranks at.
