Arsenal hopes of signing Arda Güler have taken a major hit after the Real Madrid midfielder confirmed his intention to stay at the Santiago Bernabéu despite limited playing time this season.
The 20-year-old Turkish international joined Los Blancos from Fenerbahçe for an initial £17 million in July 2023, but has struggled for regular minutes under Carlo Ancelotti. After making 12 appearances in his first season, he was expected to have a bigger role following an impressive Euro 2024 campaign with Turkey. However, he has started just 10 of Madrid’s 47 matches this term, sparking speculation about his future.
Reports from Spain have linked Arsenal with a potential move for Güler, with Mikel Arteta’s side reportedly making inquiries about his availability earlier this season. Despite the speculation, the midfielder remains focused on proving himself in Madrid.

Speaking toMarca after Turkey’s 3-0 win over Hungary, Güler reiterated his commitment to the club.
“We’re ready to fight for all three titles until the end of the season, and that’s going to be exciting. Madrid always fights to win every game and every title.”

When asked if he is content at Madrid despite his limited opportunities, Güler insisted he still believes in the club’s long-term plan for him.

“Real Madrid gave me a plan and I still believe in it. I’m sure I’ll succeed at Real Madrid—I’ve even bought a house in Madrid.”
“I work very hard and I’m always ready to play, as you could see in this match against Hungary. I love Real Madrid fans, and their support means a lot to me. I’m very grateful.”
“I came to Real Madrid to play and be an important part of this team. And I won’t stop fighting until I achieve that.”
With Arsenal closely monitoring Güler’s situation, his firm stance could make a summer transfer highly unlikely. However, his future at Madrid may still depend on whether he can secure more playing time under Ancelotti in the remaining months of the season.
