Christian Benford has been a lockdown corner for the Buffalo Bills since the former sixth-round pick made his debut in 2022.
As the team prepares for his fourth and potentially final season with the organization, the Bills understand the very real problem facing their veteran corner. At 24 years old, Benford is on the precipice of becoming one of the highest paid cornerbacks in the game.
Buffalo, with just under $5 million in cap space, need to get a deal done sooner rather than later.
And that is something Bleacher Report writer Alex Ballentine believes can get done even if they were screwed up a little bit by the Houston Texans signing Dereky Stingley to his own record extension.

"The Buffalo Bills front office can't be happy with the Houston Texans right now," Ballentine said. "The Texans inked Stingley to a market-setting three-year, $90 million extension. The Bills might not have to shell out that kind of money for Christian Benford, but it's the kind of rising tide that lifts all boats and the cost to lock him down just went up."
Benford limited quarterbacks to an 86.6 passer rating when targeted last season and has 25 passes defended over the last three seasons. While he hasn't been named to an All-Pro team yet, he remains one of the most underrated players in the game.
And despite their tight cap situation, that's a reality the Bills need to extend - not let walk in free agency while in contention with some of the top teams in the AFC.
